Cold Email Templates for SMM Agencies That Get Responses
Cold email still works if you do it right. Here are templates that have generated millions in SMM contracts.
Subject line matters more than you think. "Quick question about [Business Name]'s Instagram" gets opened way more than "Social Media Services."
Keep it short. Busy business owners don't read long emails. Get to the point in 3-4 sentences max.
Lead with a specific observation about their social media. This proves you've done your homework and aren't sending generic spam.
Template 1: The Specific Observation. "Hi [Name], I noticed [Business Name] hasn't posted on Instagram in 3 weeks. Your competitors are posting daily and getting 10x more engagement. I help local [industry] businesses fix this. Interested in a quick chat?"
Template 2: The Competitor Comparison. "Hi [Name], I was researching [industry] businesses in [city] and noticed [Competitor Name] is crushing it on social media while [Business Name] is barely active. I can help you catch up. Want to see how?"
Template 3: The Value First. "Hi [Name], I put together a quick audit of [Business Name]'s Instagram and found 3 easy wins that could double your engagement. Want me to send it over?"
Template 4: The Direct Approach. "Hi [Name], do you handle social media for [Business Name] or should I talk to someone else? I help [industry] businesses get more customers through Instagram and TikTok."
Follow up 3 times if they don't respond. Most deals close on the 3rd-5th touchpoint. Your follow-ups should add value, not just say "checking in."
Follow-up 1 (3 days later): Share a specific tip or insight about their industry's social media trends.
Follow-up 2 (5 days later): Send a case study or example of results you've achieved for similar businesses.
Follow-up 3 (7 days later): Make a time-limited offer or ask if now is just not the right time.
Personalize every email. Use their business name, reference their specific social media, and show you understand their industry. Generic emails get deleted.
Track your metrics. Know your open rates, response rates, and conversion rates. Test different subject lines and templates to see what works best for your target audience.
